Best Time to Trek

– Weather & Seasons: The best times to go trekking are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is clear, and the temperatures are moderate. Avoid the monsoon season (June to August) as the trails can be slippery.

Getting There

a. Travel to Kathmandu: First, fly into Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It’s well connected to major cities around the world.

b. Getting to the Trek Start: From Kathmandu, you’ll drive to Arughat, the starting point of the trek. The drive is scenic but can take several hours.

Permits: You’ll need a special trekking permit for the Manaslu region, and also a Tsum Valley permit if you’re going to the valley.

What to Pack

  1. Essential Gear: You’ll need proper trekking boots, a good backpack, warm clothing for cold nights, and a sleeping bag for comfort.

Kathmandu to Soti Khola (710m)
  • Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (6-8 hours).
  • Scenic views of villages and hills along the way.
  • First glimpse of rural Nepal.
  • Overnight stay in Soti Khola.
Day 02 :
Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m)
  • Trek for 6-7 hours along the Budhi Gandaki River.
  • Pass through terraced fields, forests, and villages.
  • Cross suspension bridges.
  • Overnight stay in Machha Khola.
Day 03 :
Machha Khola to Jagat (1,340m)
  • 6-7 hours of trekking.
  • Continue along the river, through dense forests.
  • Reach Jagat, the entry point to Manaslu Conservation Area.
  • Stay overnight in Jagat.
Day 04 :
Jagat to Deng (2,095m)
  • Trek for 6-7 hours.
  • Cross suspension bridges and pass through small villages.
  • Ascend into the higher valley.
  • Overnight stay in Deng.
Day 05 :
Deng to Namrung (2,900m)
  • Trek for 6-7 hours.
  • Begin ascending through alpine forests and villages.
  • Reach Namrung with panoramic mountain views.
  • Stay overnight in Namrung.
Day 06 :
Namrung to Samagaon (3,500m)
  • Trek for 6-7 hours.
  • Enter a more remote section of the trek.
  • Enjoy views of Manaslu and surrounding peaks.
  • Stay overnight in Samagaon.
Day 07 :
Acclimatization Day at Samagaon
  • Rest day to adjust to the altitude.

Day 08 :
Samagaon to Samdo (3,690m)
  • Trek for 4-5 hours.
  • Gradual ascent with views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Samdo is a traditional Tibetan village.
  • Stay overnight in Samdo.
Day 09 :
Samdo to Dharmashala (4,450m)
  • Trek for 4-5 hours.
  • Ascend towards the base of Larke Pass.
  • Reach Dharmashala, a high-altitude resting place.

Day 10 :
Dharmashala to Bimthang (3,720m)
  • Cross Larke Pass (5,160m).
  • 7-8 hours of strenuous trekking.

  • Descend to Bimthang for an overnight stay.
Day 11 :
Bimthang to Dharapani (1,860m)
  • Trek for 6-7 hours.
  • Descend through forests and villages.
  • Reach Dharapani, a major junction.
  • Overnight stay in Dharapani.
Day 12 :
Dharapani to Kathmandu (1,400m)
  • Drive from Dharapani to Kathmandu (8-10 hours).
